Black and White Wedding

In the second week of November we hosted a wedding that chose to use Black and White as their colors. The couple did add a tiny accent of yellow, which I thought was just the perfect "pop" of color in this otherwise very simple color palette.

They carried that theme out very nicely, and I thought you would enjoy seeing some photos I snapped of the set-up.

I hope you enjoy seeing yet another wedding here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

Here is a link to the photographer, Deborah Zoe's blog post for a beautiful wedding that took place just last week.  The couple had their reception at the Hawthorne Hotel.  While the first part of the blog has lots and lots of photos of the gorgeous couple, if you scroll on down you will also see lots and lots of photos of the reception here at our gorgeous hotel.

This is a terrific overview and I know you will enjoy these photos because they will help you see exactly how a real wedding reception can look look in our beautiful location:

The Parker-Rowley Wedding

On Saturday November 16 this beautiful wedding reception took place in the Hawthorne Hotel.  There were so many lovely details, we had to take photos of them all.  I hope you enjoy this peek at Cathy and Travis' wedding -- ideas and special touches.  If you want to see things in more detail, just click on the photos to enlarge them.

The guest book and place card table was amazing in its details.

Their "save the date" postcard was made from a replica of an historic Hawthorne Hotel postcard.  You can see it in this cute luggage container below:

Instead of a guest book, guests were asked to sign in on a scroll which requested their "John Hancock" please -- and the backdrop to that was a selection of carefully chosen books by Nathaniel Hawthorne and other such classics from New England.

Click on his to enlarge it, and see what the place card for Table 9 says -- too cute!

An antique typewriter graced the place card table, and gave a heartfelt message to the guests.

Both parent's wedding photos anchored the other end of the placecard table, located at the top of the stairs, outside of the Essex Room:

In the Essex Room, on the ledge, here was a photo of each of their grandparents at their weddings, along with memorial candles.  It was so sweet of them to think about their grandparents this way.

Golden caramel apples, with the message "Appily Every After: 11.16.13"  So sweet!

Lovely "reserved" cards for the placesettings of the parents of the bride and groom.

This display was of memorabilia related to Cathy's parents' wedding which took place right here at the Hawthorne Hotel, 28 years ago.  Interestingly one of the bartenders who took care of this event on Saturday night was likely working that wedding here 28 years ago, as she just celebrated her 28th work anniversary with us here at the Hawthorne Hotel.

Do you love seeing the comparisons of the Grand Ballroom 28 years ago, with the beautiful Palladian windows covered over to make the hotel look more "modern" -- what fun!  See the very next photo for how it looks now.

Meaningful gifts used on the night of their wedding reception.

Beautiful "toasting" glasses for the bride and groom:

And last but hardly least, the lovely couple.  Congratulations to you both!

I hope you enjoy looking at all these lovely details, and the result of a lot of planning and coordination by this super-nice couple and their wedding planner, Alaina Ferriero.

Special thanks as well to Evening Manager, Elizabeth Buchanan, who helped me take all these photos.

Boston Red Sox + N Y Yankees Wedding = Happily Ever After

On the day of the grand rolling rally celebrating the Boston Red Sox winning of the World Series, a charming couple had their wedding reception here at the Hawthorne Hotel.  When they were planning their wedding we doubt that the potential of a Red Sox win of the World Series was even a dot on the horizon, but things have a way of working themselves out the way they need to, and that was indeed the case.

The couple, Jennifer and Scott, are a bride who is an avid Red Sox fan, and a groom who adores the Yankees  -- what a combination!  We are so happy that at least one of "their" teams won!!!

They spent a lot of time and effort creating just the special touches to add a major league baseball flair to their special day.  Here are some photos so you can see their ideas yourself.

The placecard table featured a field of dreams for this young couple (above) and the placecards were darling "tickets" which were done so nicely to really replicate a ticket to a ballgame.

Instead of a guestbook, they had a guest "bat" for their guests to sign.  Such a clever idea!
A view of the room from the "grandmother" windows.

The centerpieces also functioned as the table numbers, and featured peanuts in the shell and baseballs on a field of "grass" -- so special!
The bouquets were made to look like baseballs -- such fun.
Their wedding cake was separated into tiers using cut baseball bats.
The "groom" and "bride" sat next to the cake instead of top -- and it was a good thing or I'm not sure we could have gotten a close-up of the cake at all.

A panoramic view of the Ballroom shows you just how tall the cake was -- talk about a home run!
I hope you enjoy this view of this very special wedding, and that it inspires you to make your wedding your own special day as well.
