Hawthorne Hotel Blog

Be sure to look at our "regular" blog posts for last night and today. Here is the link where you can see the anniversary story of a couple who have been married for 75 years -- so sweet! And a post of some centerpieces for a wedding in the Ballroom that were made by the mother of the groom -- another lovely family touch.

If you are reading this on a later date, just do a search for posts on June 25 and 26, 2010.

Thank You Email to Liz

Liz Dube is our awesome banquet manager here at the Hawthorne Hotel. She is the embodiment of the swan that we all try to be, as we do our work in the hotel business -- sailing serenely on the surface and paddling furiously underneath.

Here is a thank you email that she just received that says it better than I can:

Dear Liz, Thank-you so much for your calm and professional management of the reception. It was flawless. The meal was hot and delicious. The room was decorated beautifully and we so enjoyed the Hawthorne in all it's splendor. We were hoping you would be assigned to julie's wedding when we met you as you prepped for a wedding last December.

Sincerely thank-you.

Such a nice way to start my day!

A Classic, Beautiful Wedding

I know the "C" on the top of this cake was representative of the name of the couple getting married, but for me it will stand for "Classic" which was the look this wedding embodied.

Both Liz Dube, our Banquet Manager, and I agreed that this wedding was classically pretty, and so we decided it was worthy of a blog post.

We hope you enjoy seeing these photos, too.

Beautiful flower arrangements, both tall and short, added grace and movement to the look of the tables.

The ballroom with our new crystal chandeliers really had a lovely glow.

The seating was by table assignment through a chart, rather than place card seating.

The couple brought in a number of family wedding photos that we placed all around the seating area during the cocktail hours. Our seating area in the area outside the Essex and Pickman rooms adds a very residential feel to these kinds of events.
I hope you enjoy this look at this classically beautiful wedding.

Swan Favors and Nice Thank You

This couple had such special wedding favors for their wedding. You can see a photo of them below.

He does beautiful art glass work (and even accepts commissions) and teaches classes at Diablo Glass Works. He made each and every guest at his wedding a hand-blown swan -- such a lovely and special memento of a beautiful day.

If you wish to contact him, here is the website:
-- be sure to tell him you read about his special work right here on the Hawthorne Hotel blog.

I hope to see you here, and if we can help you with your wedding plans, please call us at 978-825-4358. Our catering staff are available Monday through Saturday, and evenings by appointment.
